Crystal Bugger

The Crystal Bugger is a Woolly Bugger variant built for conditions where a little extra flash makes the difference. Where the standard Bugger relies on movement alone, the Crystal Bugger adds a body of sparkle crystal chenille that catches and scatters light throughout the retrieve — a property that proves its worth in coloured water, low light and during the overcast conditions that so often produce the best stillwater fishing. The palmered hackle collar continues to breathe and push water as it does on any well-tied Bugger, and the marabou tail maintains that irresistible pulsing action on the pause. A brass cone head keeps the nose heavy, giving the fly a slight diving action on the strip that adds an extra dimension of movement. Tied by Scientific Fly in Black, Black/Olive and Olive — three combinations that together cover clear-water imitation and attractor fishing from first light through to dusk.
