Kraken Mantis

Kraken Mantis is part of Flyzinc's Kraken range — a series of patterns that combines fine rubber legs with a rough brush body for a more suggestive, impressionistic profile than a precise imitation. The Kraken Mantis uses a Cray Tail rather than tungsten or dumbbell eyes, which gives the fly a fundamentally different presentation: it shimmies left and right on the retrieve and kicks up sand as it moves, imitating the defensive behaviour of a fleeing mantis shrimp. This action is particularly effective on sand flats and should be reserved for sand bottom only — fishing it over coral or grass will end badly. A useful alternative when fish are refusing more polished imitations.
