Maxi's Dog's Breakfast

Maxi's Dog's Breakfast is a South African saltwater classic with a story behind it. Created by Maxi Holder at Kosi Mouth in 1987, the pattern was designed to solve a simple problem — she needed a streamer that would sink quickly and not surf on the surface. Raiding a friend's fly box, she weighted the fly with bead chain and created what many consider the first indigenous South African saltwater streamer to achieve widespread recognition among the local fly fishing community. The name came from an unkind comment about her first attempt; the fly's track record since then has spoken for itself. Tied by SciFlies on a Grip hook in #2, it remains an effective estuary and inshore streamer with a bold profile and proven sinking action.
