The Sage Power R8 is where the R8 family shifts into another gear. Built for anglers who regularly face demanding conditions — wind, distance and large flies — the Power R8 takes the proven Revolution 8 Technology of the R8 Core and dials the action up to ultra-fast. It is a purposeful rod for technical situations, not a generalised upgrade. When the R8 Core maxes out, the Power R8 takes over.

Where most rods soften under load, the Power R8 thrives. Reserve power deep in the butt section handles the heaviest fly line heads and rigs without complaint, and the ultra-fast action makes lifting sinking density lines at distance a practical manoeuvre rather than a struggle. Hard chrome snake guides and Fuji K-Series tangle-free stripping guides with SiC rings are matched to the rod's performance demands. The Hot Rod Red blank is immediately recognisable on the water and the cosmetics — burgundy base wraps with grey and black trim — are sharp without being showy.

The Right Tool for the Right Conditions

Available in eight models from the 590-4 through to the 990-4, including two fighting butt configurations, the Power R8 covers everything from a technical 5-weight scenario to serious 9-weight saltwater and big-game applications. Handle and reel seat specs are tailored by size group: snub-nose, half-wells cork handles on the smaller models, full-wells handles on the larger ones, and the correct aluminium reel seat configuration for each application. This is Sage's answer to the question of what comes after fast.
