Description
Description
The Woolly Bugger needs little introduction — it is one of the most widely fished subsurface patterns in the world, and for good reason. A marabou tail that breathes and pulses on the drop, a body palmered through with hackle to push water with every twitch of the rod tip, and a brass bead to get it down and fishing: the combination covers leech, baitfish, dragonfly nymph and general attractor in a single fly. It is equally at home stripped fast through open water, crawled along the bottom on a long leader, or fished on a slow figure-of-eight in the margins. The peacock herl variants add an iridescent body that catches light in a way synthetic materials rarely match, while the grizzly hackle version introduces a mottled, barred profile that reads as something alive at almost any depth. Tied by Scientific Fly across seven colour combinations to cover clear, stained and coloured water from early season through to the last session of the year.
